A Literature Review on Crack Arrest Features for Composite Materials and Composite Joints with a Focus on Aerospace Applications

چکیده

Crack propagation within composite materials or along the interface of joints is a phenomenon that might result in catastrophic failure structure. When factor safety involved integrity structure, fail-safe design becomes crucial by embedding failure-confining features. This article reviews research work has been carried out on such crack-arresting features (CAFs) for laminates, composite-to-composite and composite-to-metal joints. The methodology descriptive–narrative systematic literature review was employed order to present state field. stopping adhesively joined interfaces most common subject encountered literature, while other types secondary bonding as thermoplastic welding were quite limited. CAFs mainly categorized means their integration into namely “production” “post-production”. For each method reviewed, aspects question are discussed well outcome work.
